Shipping

Aurora gives you the ability to vary the shipping options available to a customer. This article provides a high level overview of what is possible.

For further information on any of the points mentioned, please refer to the respective related articles on the right.

Shipping Overview

There are 3 types of shipping options available to you:

  • Standard delivery (delivery to an address)
  • Deliver to store
  • Collect+

For each of these options you can set specific rules that will determine what shipping methods your customers can choose at the checkout. These can be based on:

  • Basket value
For example, shipping could cost £5 if a basket value is under £50, £7 if it's between £50 and £99.99 and free over £100.
  • Basket weight
If the total items in a basket weigh between 5kg and 10kg, shipping will be £10.
  • Basket volume
Shipping is £5 if the total volume of a basket is under 5003 mm, £7 if it's between 5003mm and 9993mm and free if over 9993mm.

For more information, please see the Shipping Rules support article.

🚧

To make use of the weight and volume settings within a shipping rule, you must configure your products in Aurora with these values.

By setting the product weight and dimensions (width/height/length) Aurora will automatically use these at the checkout, in conjunction with your shipping rules, to limit the shipping options available.

Before you can begin setting up rules you need to setup shipping Zones. A Zone is a series of locations that Countries belong to, which may depend on what your courier has set them as. For example, South America may be a Zone, whereby your courier charges the same price for all parcels being delivered to that region.

Once you've setup a Zone, you can navigate to Shipping > Countries and allocate your countries to the correct zone.

You're now ready to create your Shipping Rules and allocating them to Zones. This gives you the flexibility to create rules such as the below:

  • Saturday delivery for £4.99, only available to customers with a delivery address in the UK
  • Next day delivery free for customers in Eastern Europe, if they spend over £150
  • Free standard delivery on all orders to UK

In what order will shipping methods display on my store?

Shipping options are displayed on the basket and checkout pages in price ascending order, from lowest to highest.

Settings

Within Aurora > Store > Settings you have a "Shipping" tab that allows you to make modifications to how shipping works. This includes:

  • Promotions and shipping
  • Your cut off time for customers to receive items, i.e. order by 3pm for next day delivery.
  • Your cut off time for despatching items, i.e. your customer places an order at 3pm, yet you do not despatch it until 9pm, meaning as your cut off time is 8pm, they will receive it 1 day later.
  • What days you ship your items on and what days they will be delivered on (useful for Saturday delivery).
  • Any days you are excluding for despatching items and/or that they will arrive, i.e. 25th December.
