Loyalty Points
The Loyalty Points feature can be used to reward returning customers by awarding them points that can be redeemed when making future purchases on your store.
This article discusses how loyalty point programmes are maintained in Aurora.
Introduction
Loyalty programs are an effective tool to increase sales from returning customers. Aurora has a Loyalty Points feature which allows your customers to earn "points" towards future purchases. Whilst the feature is called "Loyalty Points", this moniker is not displayed to customers in the front end of your store, and can be branded in line with your organisations own loyalty programme.
Customers earn points based on the value of their basket when placing an order.
Points are awarded in whole units only. For example, a customer earning points at a rate of 0.2 points per £1 spent, placing an order of £19, will earn 3 points, as opposed to 3.8 points.
Only the cost of products contribute towards earning points - the cost of shipping for example, does not contribute towards the earning of loyalty points.
If you're looking at using the Loyalty Points feature for the first time, please contact your Aurora Commerce Account Manager, who will be able to arrange any required support for your Digital Agency.
How will Loyalty Points show on my store?
The format and style that is used to display loyalty points will depend on your stores front-end templates. Your Digital Agency will be able to customise these to meet your requirements, please contact them for further information.
Loyalty Points Settings
The use of loyalty points on your store can be heavily customised using the settings that can be found on the Store > Settings > Promotions tab under the Loyalty Points heading.
Setting | Description |
---|---|
Loyalty Points Enabled | To enable Loyalty Points on your store, ensure this checkbox is ticked. |
Approve User for Loyalty Points on Registration | Check this box to ensure that users are automatically approved for earning loyalty points when they first create an account on your store. |
Always Approve User for Loyalty Points | When checked, loyalty points are automatically approved when issued, irrespective of any other approval status. |
Loyalty Points per £ | Specify the number of loyalty points that a customer receives for every £1 spent on your store. For example: A value of 2 would result in customers earning 2 points for each £1 spent. A value of 0.2 would result in customers earning 1 point for every £5 spent. |
Group Points per Customer Point | If a customer belongs to a group that is also earning loyalty points, this field specifies the number of loyalty points earned by the group for every 1 point earned by the customer. For example: A value of 2 would result in a group earning 2 points for each 1 customer point. A value of 0.2 would result in a group earning 1 point for every 5 customer points. |
Redeemable Loyalty Points per £ | Specifies the number of points required to get a £1 discount on your store. For example: A value of 50 would result in customers needing 100 points to get a £2 discount. |
Can Use and Earn Loyalty Points on the Same Order | Choose if you would like to allow the earning of loyalty points in transactions where customers are also redeeming points. |
User Loyalty Points
You can view the number of loyalty points that have been awarded to a customer by navigating to the Users > All Users > Edit User > User Info tab and referring to the Loyalty Points field.

Need to add or remove the number loyalty points assigned to a user?
There may be situations where you would like to compensate a customer by increasing the number of loyalty points on their account, which can then be redeemed against a purchase on your store. To edit the number of loyalty points a customer has, enter a new value into the Loyalty Points field on the Users > All Users > Edit User > User Info tab.
Group Loyalty Points
In addition to customers earning points for themselves, you may wish to assign a specific subset of customers to a group, to which they can also contribute points. The group is then assigned a "parent" user who collects the points contributed by all of the groups participants.
The points that customers contribute to a group are in addition to the points they earn for themselves.
To view a groups loyalty points settings, navigate to the Users > Identity Groups > Edit Identity Group > Loyalty tab.
Setting | Description |
---|---|
Can this group earn Loyalty Points? | Choose to either enable or disable the contributing of loyalty points by users assigned to the group. |
