Filter Headers

The Filter Headers system allows you to customise Meta Data and Header/Footer content, for application to any product listing/category page using the Merchandising Rules system. This allows you to specify, for example, that when the "T-shirts" category is filtered to Red Nike products, that the Meta Data, etc be changed to match the settings provided.

This article describes how the Filter Header system can be set-up and used in Aurora. For more information on how to apply these settings to the Aurora Front-end, please see the Merchandising Rules support article.

Introduction

The Filter Headers system allows you to customise Meta Data and Header/Footer content for application to any Product Listing/Category page using the Merchandising Rules system. It allows you to place a customisable header and footer on the product listings/category page(s), creating promotional 'Landing' or 'Home' pages for your product lists should you wish to.

👍

As an example, you might wish to give a unique template to the 'Televisions' section of your site, or even a particular brand of televisions, such as 'Sony' or 'Hitachi'. Further to this, you might even decide that you wish to have a unique layout for your green t-shirts. All of this is possible with the system.

What can Filter Headers do?

Using the Filter Header system, you can ally all of the following to the Aurora Front-end Product Listing/Category pages:

  • SEO changes (Tite, Keywords, Description, etc.).
  • Canonical URLs.
  • Header and Footer (HTML) blocks.

How to enable Filter Headers

To enable this on your site, it may be necessary for you to have your front-end templates modified to include the new sections. Please contact your Aurora Commerce Account Manager to discuss this if you are unsure if this has already been done.

🚧

Filter Headers are not applied to the Aurora Front-end at all unless you configure a Merchandising Rules to describe when they should be applied.

Creating up a Filter Header

  1. Adding a new Filter Header. Go to the Products > Filter Headers section and click the Add Filter Header tab. This is where you must start completing the new Filter Template information. Start by giving your Template a name, e.g. "Green Battery Powered Paddling Pools".
  2. Set the Filter Header values to be applied. Now set the Header, Footer and Meta Data you would like to see when this 'section' is accessed by the customer.
  3.  Save & apply using a Merchandising Rule. Once you're happy with your changes, save them. Then follow the instructions provided in the Merchandising Rules support article to get your changes applied to the appropriate sections of the Aurora Front-end.
