Editing eBay products via the CSV import

This article described how to manage your eBay product's on bulk using the Aurora Product CSV importer.

Using this system you can add or update your eBay product settings on mass, allowing you to more conveniently roll-out your listings without the need to manage each product individual via the Aurora Product UI.

Editing products via the CSV import

The following fields are available in the standard product import to manage the eBay integration:

send_to_ebay

Use this field to mark products to send to eBay

1 = Send
0 = Do not send

[adtl:ebay_main_category]

This field should be set the the ID of the eBay category in which you would like to list your product. You can find the categories eBay currently supports here, however you should beware that you must select a 'Leaf' category and not a parent one. You can tell if a category has any sub categories (and so in not a 'Leaf') in a number of ways:

  • If the category section you are looking to use (like the 'Baby' category listed on the listings page) has a 'See all categories...' link (e.g. 'See all Baby categories...'), then you should follow this link and repeat the process until you reach the 'end' of the Category Branch and can select a 'Leaf'. For our example, the "Baby" and "Baby Gear" categories are both parents and not suitable, but the "Baby Backpacks" is a Leaf Category and so can be used.
    Or
  • Click the category and make sure it does not have any additional sub-categories listed on the left-hand side.

Getting the ID itself can be done by referring to the URL for a particular category, e.g. 'http://www.ebay.com/sch/Baby-Backpacks-/100984/i.html' would have the ID of 100984. Alternatively, you can use the listings page provided above and select the 'Show category numbers' option on the search, which will place the ID next to each category preceded by a # (hash).

[adtl:ebay_buy_now_price]

Use this field to set a 'buy now' price for a product. Formatted as a price, E.G. 29.99. If item is a buy it now only item, then this field is not used as the selling_price field takes precedence.

[adtl:ebay_subtitle]

Use this field to give a product a subtitle on it's eBay page. If left blank the subtitle is not used.

[adtl:ebay_auction_length]

How long the auction should last in days, whether it's an Auction or a 'Buy It Now Only' item. eBay imposes strict rules on what auction lengths are available for which product categories. Make sure you check with eBay for valid values before setting this, as setting a wrong value will make the product invalid, and it won't appear on eBay. Defaults to 7.

[adtl:ebay_product_description]

You can enter a custom product description to be sent to eBay that is different from the product's standard Aurora description. Useful because a lot of the time, the Aurora description does not need to use full HTML, but the eBay product description allows full use of HTML. If this is left blank, the default Aurora description is used, with new lines converted to valid HTML '
' tags.

[adtl:ebay_product_name]

If you wish to give a product a different name to use on eBay, set it here. Defaults to normal Aurora product name.

[adtl:ebay_selling_price]

Set the main product selling price for eBay. Defaults to product's Aurora price.

[adtl:ebay_postage_charge]

Set the postage charge here for this particular product. If left blank, defaults to settings set in Store Settings page for eBay integration.

[adtl:ebay_reserve_price_option]

Set this to 1 to use the reserved price option. Otherwise leave as 0. A reserved price is a price you won't sell this product for less than.

[adtl:ebay_home_page_featured_option]

Set this to 1 to set this product's eBay listing as 'Home Page Featured'. 'Home Page Featured' is an item listing enhancement which eBay charges additional fees for. Leave this as 0 to not use this feature.

[adtl:ebay_buy_now_only]

If this is set to 1 this product listing will be 'Buy It Now Only'. This means that users will not be able to bid on this item and will only be able to purchase at the product's selling price.

[adtl:ebay_start_price]

This is where you set the starting price of the auction if this item is an auction type listing.

[adtl:ebay_reserve_price]

If you have set the above reserve price option field to 1, you can use this field to set your reserve price for this product.

[adtl:ebay_delivery_method]

Set a delivery method for this product if required. Defaults to default delivery method set in Store > Settings > Feeds > eBay. Look at the settings page for valid values and the default value for this field.

Note: Please be aware that these value may change and you should refer to the Aurora interface as previously suggested to get the currently available values.

[adtl:ebay_delivery_type]

Please refer to the options provided in the back-end when editing a product's eBay settings, though in summary; Delivery Method refers to the Service being used (Royal Mail, Fedex, etc) and the Delivery Type refers to the method used to calculate its cost (Flat, Calculated, etc).

If you are unsure what to set this to, then please use "Flat" for the delivery type, as this sets a 'Flat' rate of postage based on your shipping cost set for the item. If you use 'Calculated' or 'Freight Weight' then eBay will attempt to calculate the shipping cost based of the product's weight and quantity or some other table of shipping data (as may be set-up on eBay). This is a complicated process that Aurora do not offer support for natively at this stage, so it is recommended that "Flat" is used with a Delivery/Shipping Cost set for each product.

[adtl:ebay_best_offer]

Set this to 1 to allow best offer accepted on this item's listing. Otherwise leave as 0.
