Indexed Search Fields and Field Weight (Weighting)

The Aurora Search will only search the fields that are configured for use under the Merchandising > Search > Search Settings > Settings area of the Aurora Back-end.

This article describes how to manage these settings and what effect they have on Aurora.

Introduction

The Aurora Search will only search the fields that are configured for use under the Merchandising > Search > Search Settings > Settings area of the Aurora Back-end. See the "Indexed Fields" section below:

Making Fields Searchable

Using the UI shown above, you should add any fields you wish to have included when searching for phrases entered into Aurora's Front-end Product Search.

Field Weight

The "Weight" value denotes to Aurora how important any results found in the field in question should be considered when generating the dynamic 'relevance' sorting order. I.e. the higher the value, the 'more relevant' any results found in that field will be considered.

🚧

A value of Zero means that the field will not be considered during the relevance calculations, but the field's results will still be returned when results are found.

Fuzzy Search Fields

The Fuzzy checkbox indicates that the field will be indexed, and searched by the Fuzzy Search facility. Please see the more details here https://docs.auroracommerce.com/docs/search

Updating the fields that are included in the Fuzzy Search index can take some time to take effect as a full reindex of the data is required if adding new fields.

📘

Not all fields can be included in the Fuzzy Search index. This includes any non-text fields, and all additional fields.

Product Additional Fields

It is possible to include any desired Product Additional Fields in your search field configuration if you wish, but doing so will require you to first configure them for use in Merchandising by assigning them a "Merchandising Sorting" setting.
